Monza and More - Do we have a new Schumi?

This post has been in my drafts since the Italian GP.

First of all treacherous conditions for the drivers. The star of Monza Sebastian Vettel became the youngest ever driver to win a Formula 1 race. It also brought about the first victory for Torro Rosso formerly Minardi. I remember watching Minardi in the 2002 season when Ferrari was unstoppable and wondered - Will they ever be able to match the front runners? I guess they have answered their critics. After a long time I saw a German Driver winning for an Italian team and at the presentation ceremony hearing the same sequence of national anthems when Schumi used to win for Ferrari. I hope Vettel will one day drive for Scuderia after all it is said that Schumi discovered him. Vettel still want's everyone not to compare him with Schumi.

Ferrari though could not match the pace in their home GP and Massa who should have taken advantage of Hamilton's situation just managed to finish one place ahead.
Then came the Singapore GP. F1's first ever night race. Bah! I never really liked closed street circuits like Monaco although Albert Park was different and quite to my liking.

Blunderous pit work from Ferrari cost Massa a potential vicotry. A deserved drive by Alonso to clinch the eventual victory. This was the first time ever I was happy that Alonso had won!
I don't know what ferrari are thinking. They should have started backing Massa for the title 2-3 races back but have taken a late decision. The Singapore GP may have cost Massa the title. Kimi on the other hand should have settled where he was and keep Ferrari in the lead for constructors instead of trying un necessary tactics.

Clearly he hasn't driven like a World Champion this year and I am begining to wonder if last year was a fluke for him just because of Mclaren's inability to back one driver for the championship. We all know he has the talent but he does not look hungry for the championship anymore.

As of today Hamilton holds pole position for the Japanese GP and I don't think Ferrari have a chance of winning the driver's title this year. There is still hope for constructors title if Ferrari keep fighting. Massa needs a miracle to come from fifth and win at the Fuji Speedway but he will still trail Lewis with just 2 races to go.

Lewis retiring this race and Massa winning this one will make the next two races worth watching. But right now I am angry at Ferrari for not doing things right. It's not the team that won the 2002 and 2004 titles. Ferrari was known to be crushing opposition when it came to racing and giving out a brilliant car. Do we need Schumi and Jean Todt back? I bet we do!
