The Formula One Season begins!
It's been a while since I posted anything. I was out in the US for a month and lost my touch with writing.
Rahul suggested that I should start blogging again in my free time so thanks to him for reminding me about my blog!
The first thing I come back to see is F1!
With three GP's out of the way the surprising part is Brawn GP is leading the pack with Toyota following in hot pursuit. I always knew Ross Brawn was one of the most intelligent guys out there and he built a car with double diffusers which has created a lot of controversy. What I find surprising is why couldn't last years title challengers come up with this idea (read Ferrari, McLaren and BMW).
Ferrari's pace has been slow and I don't remember seeing them struggle so much in the past years. The worst season was 2005 and 2003 but they weren't that slow. After 3 races the Scuderia is 9th placed in the constructors championship. Barcelona is going to see major upgrades for Ferrari and I am hoping they get back to their winning ways!
Mclaren on the other hand are a shade better than the scarlet cars. The Silver Arrows have already scored more points than Ferrari and are playing catch up to Brawn.
Brawn on the other hand is way ahead of the pack and Jenson Button seems to be in the form of his life. Rubens is also fighting back - remember he is the most experienced man on the grid. Looks like Brawn has a good chance of winning the championship.
KERS is one thing I don't really get. It's supposed to help overtake but what happens at all the street circuits of F1? You don't need KERS there. Some teams have an early adpotion of KERS with reports of McLaren coming up with the best device. Hats of to Red Bull (I think it's Adrian Newey's radical design). They don't have the double diffuser like Brawn and neither the KERS system and they have already got a 1-2 finish in Malaysia.
Sebastian Vettel is my pick for this year. He is one aggressive driver and really reminds me of my favorite(read: Michael Schumacher!). He has been linked to moving to Mclaren in the near future but I hope Ferrari sign him up. Although Kimi is trying his best to keep Ferrari on top the car is just not good enough. Also Massa is having the worst start to his season by a lot of reliability issues with the car.
My heart goes out to Force India. They are the only team without points. I hope they do get some points this year. After all the Indian connection is always there :)
The F1 season is wide open and no one at this time can predict who will win either championship. Ferrari are known to come back strong even with such a weak start. They have done it in the past and can do it again. After the dust is settled will it be the Prancing Horse on top or will it be someone else? We'll have to wait and watch! All I know is that it's going to be one hell of a tough fight.
