A Bachelor's Guide to Cooking - Rice n Veggies
Now this one's the most simple of them all!
I come home late from office and I find that I have a lot of veggies lying at home some rice n dal.
So I decided to make something with rice but was too lazy to cook a separate vegetable and dal to go along with it.
So time I experimented. :)
Here's what you'll need
Rice soaked in water for around 20 mins
Your favorite veggies ( Paneer, cauliflower, carrots etc...)
A few onions vertically chopped
2 green chillies
Some cloves of garlic and some ginger (you can use ginger garlic paste if you want)
oil
Water
Some jeera
Seasonings(Chilli Powder, Turmeric, Garam Masala Pwd, Dhania Jeera Pwd)
A Pressure cooker!
Fry the onions till light brown in the pressure cooker. Add the jeera, ginger, garlic, green chillies. Saute till you get the jeera's aroma. Add in the vegetables and cook till they are glazed. Add the rice and some water to cook the rice. Add in the seasonings and salt. Pressure cook for max two whistles.
Now it might not come out like a biriyani as you wished for but it will be quite good. You'll need to adjust the water level the next time you make it so that the rice comes out right.
Voila.
This hardly takes around 15 mins including cooking time. So enjoy!
